People thinking of a more unlikely seasonal song would be hard-pressed to beat that chosen by a band promoting festive fare to be sold from a Keighley chippy.
Joe Tanner and his fellow musicians have composed An Utterly Utley Christmas – a dainty ditty about the battered mince pies being served up by his parents’ business.
Ross Tanner, who runs Utley Fisheries with his wife, Sandra, commissioned the band to put together the song and accompanying video as a novel way of drawing attention to the crispy cakes.
The tinsel-tastic treats will be ready to buy from the chippy from next month, and will be sold to raise money for Manorlands hospice.
Mr Tanner said: “The battered mince pies are lovely – we sold them last year as well, and they were a great success. It seems a bit of an odd concoction but it’s actually very nice.
“The video and song will go on YouTube to promote them.”
Student Joe Tanner, 17, is a bass player. His rock, punk and grunge band is called Ambulance and Emergency and also comprises fellow Guiseley School classmates Olly and Sue Bell and Tom Palmer.
They plan to perform An Utterly Utley Christmas at an open mic night in Guiseley closer to Christmas.
