South Craven residents who have contributed to a museum’s oral history collection are being sought.

Craven Museum & Gallery is trying to trace people it has interviewed during the past 40 years.

Supported by a £3,400 Heritage Lottery Fund grant, the museum is digitising the recordings.

The Talking Treasure project aims to give the public greater access to the Skipton museum’s oral history collections by posting snippets online and on the museum audio pod.

But a spokesman said: “In order to complete the project, we need to get in touch with all those who were interviewed by the museum to get their consent.

“It is likely some of the interviewees might have passed away, being in their late 80s at the time of interview, in which case we will need to seek permission from their families.”

More than 20 interviewees or their relatives have already been contacted, but about 40 people are still to be traced.

Anyone who has been interviewed, or believes a family member may have been, is asked to contact Martin Wills at the museum on via e-mail at mwills@cravendc.gov.uk or call (01756) 706317.
