A NEW portrait of Haworth's Bronte sisters by ball-point pen artist James Mylne has been unveiled at the National Portrait Gallery in London.
The picture was revealed last Wednesday. (Aug 27)
The work was commissioned by Microsoft to promote its new Surface Pro 3 tablet.
Mr Mylne's new rendering, which was drawn entirely on the laptop, recreates the classic portrait of sisters Anne, Emily, and Charlotte, which was originally drawn by their brother Branwell Bronte.
His piece is one of four new artworks, also featuring William Shakespeare and Dame Christabel Pankhurst, celebrating famous Britons who changed the world using the power of the pen.
Mr Mylne began drawing realistic artwork from an early age, and said he first realised the benefits of using ballpoint pens over pencil when he was 14.
He began selling his ballpoint drawings when he was just 19, and has since expanded his technique to include other media, such as spray paints, marker pens, inks, and collage.
