RESIDENTS of Long Lee and Thwaites Brow are being urged to help run the village’s community centre.
They can find out more by going along to the annual general meeting of Long Lee and Thwaites Brow Village Society.
The society, whose committee meets every three weeks, oversees a range of activities at the village hall, including an art group, a karate club, toddler and adults’ tap dancing, a monthly residents’ tea party and private parties.
Committee spokesman June Keeler said the hall had been decorated through a sponsorship scheme.
She added: “Through the hard work of our local councillors we have been granted enough funding to cover the running costs of the building."
The village society will hold the annual Open Gardens and Scarecrow Event on August 23. Anyone interested in opening their garden should e-mail June Keeler at jemkeeler@virginmedia.com.
The annual general meeting is on June 10 2015 at 7pm in the village hall.
