KEIGHLEY bus station was the setting this week for the emotional final scene of a movie entirely shot in Yorkshire.
Writer-director Francis Lee and his crew spent Tuesday in the station concourse using real-life passengers as a backdrop for God’s Own Country.
They brought a rented coach to the station and filmed scenes of the hero – Yorkshire farmer’s son Johnny – deciding whether to climb on board.
God’s Own Country, the first full-length project following critically-acclaimed short films, follows Johnny’s struggle to choose between family duty and finding his own path, and how a migrant worker from Romania transforms his life.
Cinematographer Josh Richards told the Keighley News the crew had spent a hectic few weeks filming in Haworth, Keighley and Otley.
God’s Country stars rising talent Josh O’Connor, who appeared in Disney’s live-action Cinderella, alongside Romanian actor Alec Secareanu and film veterans Gemma Jones and Ian Hart.
