THE BOXING Day Bash will be held once again in Brontëland as walkers stride off their Christmas Day feasting.

Punch and pies will be on offer during the walk, but people are advised to take a packed lunch.

Bradford Council’s volunteer walks leaders will be active throughout the month, including Sunday, December 18 for a six-mile Moorland Round.

Walkers should meet Ken Allen Senior at 10.45am at Oxenhope station for a moorland ramble with great views.

Winter Druids Delight, a four-mile circular walk, will be on December 21, setting off from Bingley Market Square at 7.30am.

People are advised to take a torch and their breakfast for a steady climb with Barbara Walker on good paths to Druids Altar, hopefully to see the first sunrise of winter. There will be a leisurely return, downhill all the way.

A Candlemass Eve is the title of a five-mile circular walk on Saturday, December 10, journeying to Oxenhope and back, starting from the church steps at the top of Haworth Main Street and returning in time for carols around the tree. Meet David Anderson at 10. 30am.

It’s Mince Pies For All on December 14 as Julian Dale and David Anderson lead a four-mile circular walk beginning at 10.45am at Leathley Avenue, Menston (beside the recreation ground).

What follows is a steep climb up to Hawksworth and a drop towards Tong Village with a Christmas treat on the way round.
