A LORRY'S brakes caught fire as it headed down a hill in Keighley today.
The articulated Volvo car transporter was driving down Park Lane when the blaze broke out.
The driver had pulled in to check a map when he noticed flames.
"It's just by chance he'd stopped," said firefighter Adam Dykes, of Keighley Fire Station.
"He attempted to put out the flames with a fire extinguisher and called us.
"When we arrived it was mainly smoke."
Two hose reels were used and the fire was confined to the area around the brakes.
The driver was uninjured.
Crews from Keighley and Bingley fire stations were called out to the incident, late this morning.
