A DISUSED church could be demolished to make way for a housing scheme.

Plans have been submitted to Bradford Council to build 13 homes – 12 semi-detached properties and one detached – on the site of the former Church of Christ the King, situated between Bradford Road and the Leeds and Liverpool Canal at Sandbeds.

The church building has been empty since it closed in 2006.

Plans to demolish it and build a care home on the site were approved by Bradford Council in 2011, but the development never went ahead.

And subsequent plans for housing on the land have either been refused, or withdrawn by the developers.

Applicant behind the latest scheme is Chris Phillips.

A decision on the proposals is expected in November.
