The Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress of Bradford will open an art exhibition at Haworth.
They will launch Now and Then, at 49 to 51 Main Street.
The premises are the home, studio and private gallery of Judy Sale, who is staging the exhibition.
She explained: “The artwork was first shown in a street exhibition up and down Main Street during the Haworth Arts Festival last September.
“It is both remarkable and fitting that the Lord Mayor, Councillor Peter Hill, and Lady Mayoress Gillian Hill should cut the ribbon for the exhibition at my property, because they also lived in this same house some years ago.” Ms Sale was a 2010 winner of the UnLtd Millennium Award for Social Entrepreneurs. UnLtd has continued to sponsor her.
She is a professional abstract painter who has lived and worked in eight different countries. She moved back to the UK in 2009 after spending six years in Italy. She said next Saturday’s exhibition would feature a variety of quirky paintings and collages which she produced last year.
She said: “I hope that this exhibition will show how Haworth is the perfect environment for all creative people who appreciate the magic of this area.
“Because of its famous historical past connection to the Brontë family, Haworth is often associated solely with the past while the present and future are overlooked. The purpose of this exhibition is to explore Haworth both Now and Then, to show that Haworth’s creative past must continue to be a reference for people today.”
All works of art at the exhibition will be on sale and the proceeds will be shared with the Haworth Village Association.
The Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress will open the event at 3.30pm.
