SPORTING Keighley paid a heavy price for missing chances in their Keighley & District FA Challenge Cup semi-final against Wilsden Athletic.
Even so, they needed two goals in the final seven minutes to force extra-time at 2-2.
It was 3-3 after the additional half-hour, with Wilsden being gifted two of their goals, and Athletic then triumphed 5-4 in the sudden-death penalty shoot-out.
Sporting, who took some poor spot-kicks in the showdown, could not believe how they hadn't got through.
Meanwhile, Silsden Whitestar won their quarter-final 4-1 at home to Ingrow & Worth Valley, leading 2-0 at half-time via Zac Conway, who lobbed advancing goalkeeper Stewart Devlin in the fifth minute before Chris Williams profited from a goalkeeping error.
On a bobbly pitch, Jack Kendall's left-footed 30-yarder made it 3-0 and, although Ingrow pulled a goal back, leading scorer Sam Stanfield – back after breaking a leg in January – came on as a substitute to put the tie to bed.
Whitestar's man of the match was defensive kingpin John J Berry.
