Keighley's Michelle Smith became the first female British champion when she won the Bisley 2007 Earl Roberts Competition held in Surrey on Friday and Saturday.
Michelle, 24, who is a member of the Aireborough Rifle and Revolver Club, scored 197 and 194 from 100 yards and 199 and 196 in the 50 metres in the final to take the championship.
The scores were based on 20 shots with a maximum score being 200. She is the first woman to win the Roberts in the competition's 79-year history.
She said: "It's brilliant to have the Roberts but the thing that means the most to me is being the first woman to have done so. That's always been a dream of mine since I attended my first Bisley back in 1996 as a 13-year-old."
Before being presented with the Roberts trophy, Michelle was awarded the English Long Range Champion trophy and the Annie Oakley trophy for the highest scoring lady in the British Championship.
Michelle, who has been a member of the Aireborough club for ten years, began target shooting at Keighley Rifle Club in 1995.
