A CORNER of Church Green can be seen here on the right, and High Street dimly in the background, but this whole left-hand vista of Bridge Street premises has disappeared, casualties of drastic changes affecting Keighley between the wars.
The presence of trackless wires and absence of tram-lines indicates that this photograph was taken between 1924 and 1932, as Keighley’s trams were discontinued in 1924 and its trolleybuses in 1932.
So completely have memories of Bridge Street faded that this stretch of road is often wrongly described as South Street, or even more inaccurately as Halifax Road.
