IT absolutely beggars belief that anyone would even contemplate deliberately ‘planting’ a pair of scissors, blades up, in a playing field used by children.
Litter, beer cans and bottles are one thing.
But this latest despicable action elevates the seriousness of the situation way above “anti-social behaviour”.
It is a premeditated attempt to cause someone harm.
The possible consequences of a child falling on the open blades simply do not bear thinking about.
Thankfully, but only through good fortune, the scissors were spotted before they did any harm.
And the matter has been reported to the police.
Every effort must be made to identify the person or people responsible, and strong action be taken.
The community can do its bit.
Chances are someone knows who committed this act.
If that person is you, do the right thing and come forward with the information.
Someone prepared to do this once would not hesitate to carry it out again, and next time we may not be as lucky.
