THE idiocy of some motorists on our town’s streets beggars belief.
Many people will have witnessed examples of irresponsible – and often dangerous – driving, around Keighley.
Souped-up cars doing circuits in the town centre, with deluded young drivers under the misapprehension that they’re ‘cool’, are fairly commonplace.
But the latest example, caught on a dashcam, of foolhardy driving takes things to another level. Whilst most people would probably have no sympathy if the culprits were putting only themselves at risk, there is a tendency when things go wrong for innocent folk to get caught-up in the consequences.
In the example of two cars racing along South Street, another vehicle came close to being hit and a pedestrian had to take evasive action.
Police are now investigating, and it is to be hoped that those responsible are caught and dealt with.
Increasing numbers of motorists are using dashboard cameras, which should help bring more offenders to justice.
It is then imperative that those convicted of offences are not just given a slap on the wrist.
