NEWS of a concerted Operation Steerside initiative in Keighley has been applauded by community leaders.
But the campaign will also be warmly welcomed by ordinary members of the public – motorists and pedestrians.
Some of the driving practices seen across the town are shocking, and quite frankly, downright dangerous.
People have had to put up for too long with the idiotic behaviour of the minority.
Just a month or so ago, footage was captured of two cars racing each other along South Street.
One of the vehicles narrowly missed a pedestrian.
Operation Steerside has already proved hugely successful since it was launched two years ago, dealing with 13,000 motorists and seizing more than 1,000 vehicles.
And during a concerted foray into Keighley last year, over 300 offenders were caught.
It is to be hoped that the latest initiative will prove equally successful – not necessarily and exclusively in terms of numbers apprehended, but in raising awareness of the need to drive safely and responsibly.
