IN one of MP Robbie Moore's recent weekly newsletters, he claims to have "presented my new Local Authorities Boundaries Bill to Parliament which will seek to enable residents across Keighley and Ilkley and the Shipley constituencies to form our own unitary authority."
He goes on to say: "It was fantastic to see that my bill had the support to pass its first reading, and a second reading of my bill is due in March."
I have checked, and this 'breakaway' bill is a ten minute rule bill which allows backbench MPs to float an idea but it has no chance of becoming law. Indeed, I recall Mr Moore proposed a similar bill last year which was rejected by Parliament, as reported in the press.
Mr Moore is shamelessly misleading Keighley voters.
