WE are a charity based at Cross Roads that saves the lives of abandoned and unwanted cats and kittens across Yorkshire and beyond, and we're appealing for help with a kitten that has been in our care since October.
Little Gus came to us after mum cat had killed nearly all Gus' siblings and there were only two kittens left. We did what we could but the sibling didn’t survive either.
It has been touch and go with Gus, who at first had little chance of survival. She went to stay with an experienced fosterer, Emily Hall, who had to bottle feed her every two hours for the first two weeks! Emily started to notice that Gus cried in pain when she toileted her and her pee smelt really strong. Gus has had numerous infections of her bladder and has been on antibiotics most of her life.
Emily managed to help her gain weight and she even hit the 1 kilogram mark, but sadly the infection came back every time medication was stopped. Gus now needs further tests and anti-inflammatory medication, and maybe even surgery in the future so that we can clear the infections and ensure she lives a long, happy and healthy life.
The charity has spent £2,168.25 so far on Gus’ medical bills and is appealing to anyone out there if they would be able to help with these costs. To donate, simply head over to the website yorkshirecatrescue.org/Appeal/littlegusbills.
Thank you.
