IN the Keighley News Memory Lane feature of November 16 there were photos of several mills including Castle Mill, on the North Beck just off Fell Lane.
These mills were all on the flowing beck that drove the waterwheels, which in turn provided power to the mills.
With the technology we have today, could someone with a little nouse – maybe the technical and science departments of Keighley's schools – set up some turbines to put power into the grid? That could pay the bills of schools, pensioners, or others.
I have noticed, with living in the area, that the beck is always flowing. It seems a shame not to use this free commodity.
