IT beggars belief the thinking of those who give the OK for roadworks in Keighley.

Last Monday, Keighley's highways were subject to gridlock because someone allowed either the council highways department itself or more likely contractors to put up temporary traffic lights on the centre section of the pedestrian crossing at the end of North Street/Church Green. This held up the flow of traffic around Keighley. Why on earth they closed one lane and put temporary traffic lights there is unbelievable! Why didn't they do this at night, when there is no traffic using the normally very busy North Street?
