IN response to ‘Anger at hike in car park charges’ (Keighley News, August 1).

I think Councillor Poulsen and indeed our MP Robbie Moore are missing the main point – that it’s not about car park charges, it’s about too many cars in Haworth.

Yes, we want visitors. Yes, we want footfall for the Worth Valley Railway, the Bronte Parsonage Museum, Main Street and the moors. But we don’t want the cars.

What we need is for Cllr Poulsen to work with Bradford Council (of which she is a well-paid member) and MP Robbie Moore (a well-paid member of Parliament) to work with the Government to develop proposals for cycle and walking routes around the Worth Valley, park and ride schemes, and better use of public transport. More visitors, less cars, less pollution.

You are both well paid and in positions of influence so crack on and do something positive, and stop being so negative. The Worth Valley is a great place. Together we can make it even better.

So over to you...

Mark Curtis, Oakworth
