Harden Players’ resident playwright Amanda Petyt has branched out into chick-lit.
The prolific writer of the village’s pantomimes has now written a romantic comedy, which is entitled Bosomed Deep In Vines.
The book, billed as a ‘summer sizzler’, tells what happens after a woman moves to a small Yorkshire town to make a new life for herself.
The book -- available in paperback for £7.99 -- is hailed in the publicity as “witty, poignant and the real page-turner”.
Amanda is no stranger to romantic comedy – Pride and Perfidy, her spoof costume drama based on Jane Austen’s work – was performed by Harden Players in 2008.
She said the novel was the fulfilment of a dream, and she had received fantastic feedback so far.
Amanda added: “I’ve even been stopped in the street a couple of times by people saying how much they were enjoying the novel.
“It’s so difficult for a newcomer to land a publishing deal so I decided to set up my own company and do it myself.
“Publishing houses will not accept unsolicited manuscripts so writers must find an agent to represent them, and the agencies receive thousands of submissions.”
Bosomed Deep In Vines tells how Sarah, recovering from a disastrous love affair, takes a job managing a wine shop with a motley staff of flirts and misfits.
Then one night, she meets a gorgeous, ruthless stranger and makes a powerful enemy -- but she can’t remember everything that happened.
Sarah could lose everything – her home, her job, and her friends -- and it seems they have their own secrets of betrayal and sexual awakening.
The “hilarious romp” follows Sarah’s year as she fights to save her village green from development, and grows from a gawky girl to the woman who’ll save the world, or at least her quaint corner of it.
Bosomed Deep In Vines is available from Amazon.
