Ever felt like getting more in tune with your creative side?

People in the Keighley area have been invited to become involved in a pair of weekend residential workshops in Stanbury this autumn.

Both are being run by a group called Whitestone Arts.

The centre was set up in a converted farmhouse in 2003 by playwright Judith Adams, artist and photographer Simon Warner and video and stage designer Leo Warner.

The first of the two workshops takes place from September 27 to 29, and will be led by Australian actor-musician Eilon Morris.

A Whitestone Arts spokesman said: “Eilon has recently completed a doctorate exploring the use of rhythm in actor training.

“He has developed a number of training approaches inspired by his work with theatre practitioners, and has presented workshops and master classes on rhythm for performers.”

Eilon’s workshop is billed as being particularly suitable for actors, dancers, musicians, writers, directors and choreographers. It will use guided moorland walks and studio-based sessions to explore rhythm and movement.

The cost is £195, which includes tuition, food and accommodation.

A deposit of £50 is required to reserve a place, with full payment needed by September 1.

Camping options are also available for reduced rates.

There will be a ‘Walking, Looking and Drawing’ workshop from October 11 to 13 with Carry Akroyd, who works as a widely-exhibited painter and printmaker.

The spokesman added: “Participants will explore many different approaches to the practice of drawing, and will experiment with different techniques.

“The large barn at Whitestone will supply room for both group drawing exercises and personal workspace.”

She said the centre’s scenic rural location would provide creative scope for the would-be artists, who will be encouraged to use the surrounding landscape to inspire their work.

The cost is £195, again including tuition, accommodation and meals.
