Dirty Dancing returns to Leeds next year in a production that has been seen by more than six million people across the world.
Dirty Dancing – The Classic Story On Stage first toured the UK in autumn 2011, before beginning a record-breaking run in the West End.
It will be back on the road in 2014, taking residency at the Grand Theatre from November 11 to December 6 with the anticipation of more standing ovations.
The show sets out to recreate the famous 1987 film on stage, and is written by Eleanor Bergstein, scriptwriter and co-producer of the original movie.
Extra scenes and choreography have been added to the story of a teenage girl, who finds romance while on a summer camp in 1960s America.
Producer, Karl Sydow, said: “We are so pleased to be returning to Leeds, where the record-breaking first ever national tour wowed audiences in June 2012.
“The unique combination of Eleanor Bergstein’s iconic story and the breathtaking dancing, for which the show is renowned, has proven so popular around the country.”
Songs from the original soundtrack include Do You Love Me?, Hungry Eyes and the Academy Award-winning (I’ve Had) The Time Of My Life.
Also coming up next year at the Grand will be one of the biggest musicals of the past two decades, Wicked, from June 10 to July 5.
The show tells the ‘real’ story of the much-maligned wicked witch from The Wizard Of Oz and her friendship with the story’s good witch.
Barry Humphries will present Dame Edna Everage -- the Farewell Tour from February 25 to March 1.
Opera North’s regular visits to the Grand will see The Girl of the Golden West, Macbeth and From Paris With Love (January 21 to February 21) and La Boheme (April 29 to May 10).
