It’s no mystery why the works of John Waddington-Feather are doing so well on the Kindle e-reader.
He constantly writes new material, busily plunders his extensive back catalogue and relentlessly promotes his work. His murder mystery novels, set in a fictionalised Keighley, do well amongst electronic-book fans on both sides of the Atlantic.
The latest addition to the series, The Scrapyard Mystery, as usual featuring priest-detective Blake Hartley and sidekick DS Ibrahim Khan, will be uploaded to Kindle soon.
John, who was born in Keighley but for many years has lived in Shrewsbury, is delighted. He said: “I’ve been busy this past month typing out The Scrapyard Mystery for Kindle. My play Edward the Uncrowned King, about Edward VIII and the abdication crisis in 1937, has also gone on Kindle.”
Retired teacher John has written a wide range of books, from children’s stories to detective novels, as well as verse play Garlic Lane about his 1930s childhood in Eastwood.
John (pictured) is vice-chairman of the JB Priestley Society and a life member of both the Yorkshire Dialect Society and the Bronte Society.
He founded small-press imprint Feather Books, and over the years his books have attracted interest in many countries, including Germany, Russia and Ukraine.
