A Keighley teenager will travel to the United States next year to compete in the world’s cheerleading championships.

Sian Reid, 14, will take part alongside fellow members of the Panache Elite team from the Panache Cheerschool in Bradford. In the ‘Worlds’ contest in Orlando next April, they will represent Yorkshire in the UK as well as the Panache school itself.

The 13-strong team won their place after taking on 14 other teams from across the UK in Telford last month.

Sian’s mother Vena said: “This is a fantastic achievement for the girls and they have worked tirelessly for months putting in extra practice. They are all extremely excited about winning the bid and we are now all raising funds to get them there.”

Panache Elite competed on Sky 1’s talent contest Got To Dance, where they achieve three gold stars from the judges along with encouraging comments.

They also featured on Sky 1’s recent programme Greatest Little Britons. Mrs Reid added: “Everything is looking amazing for the girls in the school, and thanks to winning this bid there is more excitement to look forward to.”

Panache Cheerschool is owned and run by Robyn Morrison and her husband, Glenn Morrison, former Bradford Bulls player and now coach of Dewsbury Rams.
