An up-and-coming alternative metal band – made up of musicians who met at Leeds College of Music – hopes to make a big impact in and around Keighley.

Five-piece outfit Dear Atria has already played locally, impressing audiences with performances at the Exchange Arts Centre, The Aire Do at Cliffe Castle and Woodfest in Haworth.

Guitarist Hayden Dobson, who is from Steeton, said all five band members have an equally strong input during the songwriting process.

He added: “We’re playing Oxjam Festival and we’ve entered this year’s Keighley Musicians Centre Battle of the Bands. We also entered the Soundwave music competition, which is the largest contest for unsigned bands in the North of England and Scotland. We passed our judges’ audition and made it to the live performance stages.”

As well as Hayden, the band includes Danielle Wright (vocals), Matt Johnson (guitar), Zack Cornick (bass) and Joe Whiteley (drums).

Hayden said he and his friends were “incredibly proud” of the songs they had produced together so far.

“We’ve filmed our debut music video for out new song, Illuminate, which was released in late June,” he said. “This song is also going to feature as one of four tracks on our upcoming self-titled EP, due to be released later this year.”
