The Great Northern pub is to host blues, roots and traditional music nights each month.
Ben Waters, one of the organisers, promised the best music from Yorkshire plus well-known acts from further afield. The autumn season kicks off on Saturday, September 7, with Gerry Cooper and Phil Snell’s syncopated blues and ragtime playing. Ben said: “Their humour and natural empathy make the music appear effortless.”
Slide guitarist Ben -- under the name Ben Blue Waters -- will provide support with foot-stomping Delta-style blues. The Urban Bluesmen play gritty guitar and harmonica songs on Friday, October 4, supported by rootsy folk/blues outfit Palooka.
Bluesbeaten Redshaw and Chris Martin will perform on November 1, and Damian Clarke and Liz Narey on December 6.
