A Christian drama coming to Keighley next month has been performed successfully across Europe.
A Different Drum is being staged by Riding Lights Theatre Company at Keighley Shared Church on October 30.
The play was first produced in 1998, when it toured the UK, France, Sweden and Spain to overwhelming critical acclaim.
The play told of people throughout history who had made great sacrifices to put others before themselves.
Riding Lights has recreated the show for its latest UK tour with new stories of remarkable love and radical action.
The company promises an evening of memorable and thought-provoking entertainment for Christians and non-Christians alike.
A Different Drum begins in the 17th century when a bundle of French silk arrives at the Derbyshire village of Eyam.
The bundle also contained a flea, whose blood was carrying the plague that had already ravaged most of Europe.
The Reverend Peter Mott, priest-in-charge at Keighley Shared Church, said villagers made a devastating choice to quarantine the village.
He said: “As they chose the bold path of sacrifice, they begin to march to the sound of a different drum.
“The show follows a thread through history, picking up accounts of similar men and women who break the boundaries of self-interest.
“The heart of a different drum beats with these stories of resistance and sacrifice, of remarkable love in action.”
A Different Drum promises stirring music and powerful storytelling while carrying the message of the Gospel. The show is suitable for those aged over 11.
Tickets cost £10 from the Rev Mott at peter.mott@chipmail.co.uk or on 01535 601499.
