Classic 1970 movie The Railway Children – shot on the Worth Valley line – is being screened as part of a new season of Friday night film shows at Bradford Cathedral.
The Lionel Jeffries-directed film (above), which catapulted the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway to international stardom, will be shown on November 15.
Afterwards, Keighley’s former MP, Ann Cryer, will talk about the making of the movie, which her late husband – former Labour MP and railway enthusiast Bob Cryer – appeared in and did much to assist with.
Stars of the film included Jenny Agutter and Bernard Cribbins, but many local people were seen as extras. Shooting took place along the five-mile line and in Haworth.
