Popular Keighley harpist Fiona Katie Roberts will perform on her hand-made harps in Halifax later this month.
She will perform music from The Book of Caris during a presentation at the Square Chapel on September 29.
The book charts the journey of The Prince of Noab from Africa across Europe where he enlists into the Roman Army, eventually becoming Governor of Britannia.
The story culminates in leading a defense against an invasion at Hadrian’s Wall.
The Prince is accompanied on his journey by the angel Caris who guides him and gives him advice.
Intertwining fact and fiction, The Book of Caris is a story of love, hope and courage in the face of adversity.
The Book of Caris was originally composed by David Widdop for his children, and later arranged on the harp by Fiona Katie Roberts.
Fiona Katie has been designing and building harps for more than 17 years, stringing the instruments with fishing line to create the sound she wants.
She originally came to play the harp after driving past a bonfire and seeing one of the instruments on top.
She asked the owner if she could have it, and went on to design and make her own. Fiona Katie also composes her own music, using influences from Celtic, Flamenco and Latin.
She was chosen to be a part of the BBC’s A Symphony for Yorkshire, which was created by award-winning composer Benjamin Till. Visit squarechapel.co.uk or call 01422 349422 for further information.
