Members of a Keighley music ensemble want to put themselves on the map as they begin their autumn rehearsals.

The Bandwagoners are seeking a voluntary publicity manager to help spread the word about their activities.

The group, based at the Temple Row Centre, are also recruiting new members and continuing their appeal for instruments.

The Bandwagoners began around 18 months ago as the Temple Row Music Group to provide an activity for elderly and disabled people.

The group was formed by centre volunteer Geoff Donaldson, a community health champion with the NHS Champion Shows the Way project.

Membership was open to anyone, whatever their musical ability, and a core group of members was soon playing together each week.

During the summer the group performed to Temple Row users, then to hundreds of children at East Riddlesden Hall as part of Keighley Festival.

The Bandwagoners’ repertoire includes 1960s songs.

Mr Donaldson said “It’s mostly guitars but we’re going to start using a clarinet, and we have drums and keyboards.

“We have recorders and flagulets available for people to play, and we’re going to try to move into mouth organs.”

Anyone wishing to attend the Wednesday sessions, or donate instruments, should contact Mr Donaldson on 07765 185203.
