Children can this weekend learn whether they have what it takes to be a real-life superhero.

Halifax children’s museum Eureka! will challenge visitors to find out just how super they are on Saturday and Sunday during the Superhero Weekend.

Batman and Spiderman will battle the insidious Poison Ivy who is brainwashing visitors with her toxins.

A museum spokesman said: "Grab your cape, pop your underpants over your trousers and fly down to Eureka!"

Back by popular demand will be Mark Pearson and his Iron Man outfit, which he made by hand over the course of 14 months.

Iron Man will be meeting visitors and posing for photos at regular times throughout both days.

Visitors will also be able to meet real-life police officers.

Superhero activities are free with standard admission or the Eureka! annual pass.

Eureka! recently opened its new £2.9 million All About Me gallery to teach about science, health and well-being through play and multi-sensory, interactive activities.

Eureka! is aimed at children aged from up to 11, with more than 400 hands-on exhibits teaching them about themselves and the world around them.
