One of New York’s leading dance companies is to perform its only Northern England date at the Bradford Alhambra.
Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet (left) will visit the theatre on October 15 and 16 to perform a triple bill.
The company is said to have forged a strong reputation during the past decade for the exceptional calibre of its dancers. It has also been praised for commissioning new work from some of the world’s most sought-after choreographers.
Cedar Lake’s UK debut at Sadler’s Wells in 2012 was received well by critics, prompting a return for its first British tour. The programme will include Indigo Rose, which features fast-paced duets, trios and quartets spiked with humour.
It is set against a driving score, featuring works by the Baroque composers Bach and Couperin paired with 20th century American composer John Cage’s piano works.
Ten Duets On A Theme Of Rescue is described as deeply evocative and compelling aesthetic. The programme is completed by Norwegian choreographer Jo Strømgren’s spirited ensemble piece, Necessity.
