The spirit of glam rock icon Marc Bolan can be found at Burnley Mechanics this month in the shape of T*Rextasy.

The T.Rex tribute band is taking its I Love To Boogie tour to the venue on October 26.

T*Rextasy proclaims it is the only band to have been authorised and endorsed by Marc Bolan’s Catalogue Management.

A spokesman said: “We are officially recognised as the world’s number one group dedicated to the greatest glam rocker of them all.”

Lead singer and lead guitarist Danielz is described as an uncanny doppelganger of Bolan.

He was lead singer with 1980s rock band Tarazara, and has recorded with members of Mungo Jerry, Vibrators and Eurythmics.

He has also guested on the albums Captain Rock by Japanese rock star Hotei and Wheels Of London by Midnight Rags.

Danielz said his career highlights had been recording Marc Bolan’s music but having a licence to put T*Rextasy’s own stamp on the songs.

He said he had thoroughly enjoyed playing some of the UK’s largest venues, like Wembley Arena, and selling out venues across Japan.

Danielz added: “No-one can ever take Marc’s place – no-one could ever be that naive.

“We treat T*Rextasy as a band of today, playing Marc’s music as faithfully as possible, and recreating that special energy and performance.”

T*Rextasy’s latest show aims to recapture a typical Marc Bolan concert of the 1970s, with four-decades-old anthems like Children Of The Revolution, Metal Guru and Telegram Sam.

Meanwhile, the Supersonic 70s Show will be performed at the Mechanics tomorrow, with songs including ELO’s Mr Blue Sky. And an Evening Of Sinatra is promised by Moonlight Serenade Orchestra on October 12.

Rock ‘n’ roll show C’mon Everybody will be performed on November 30, with songs by the likes of Eddie Cochran, Chuck Berry, Duane Eddy, Bill Haley and Brenda Lee.
