There’ll be shaking and shuddering at the shake shack in Haworth on Saturday!
In other words, there’s a performance by Howlin’ Johnny and the 59 Sound at the Groovy Happening.
Keighley’s favourite rock ‘n’ roll band headline the popular monthly event at the Parkside Social Club in Haworth.
Singer Johnny, alias John Gow, asked whether people remembered the days when they looked forward to the fairground coming to town.
He said: “The speedway, the waltzers, the dodgem cars, the rock ‘n’ roll music as the boys and girls showed off and shook it loose?”
Johnny wants his audience on Saturday, just like riders on the 50s waltzers, to scream for the band to play louder and faster.
Also playing the 7.30pm gig will be The 11th Hour, Ann-Marie Kelly, James Kelly and Latin Fusion.
The 11th Hour are described as a young and talented four-piece band who usually play indie music but have agreed to perform 1950 songs.
Ann-Marie Kelly will sing songs by iconic 50s artists, including Doris Day, Rosemary Clooney and Alma Cogan.
She said: “I can’t wait to take you all back in time for a sentimental journey through the 50s.”
Ann-Marie’s brother, James, and his Sounds of Swing will play hits by Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darin and Nat King Cole.
Latin Fusion is a group of dancers who will present rock ‘n’ roll, swing jive and salsa to the sounds of the 50s.
Punters are invited to wear their 50s gear, and they can finish the night dancing to Dangerous Dave’s Disco.
Entry to the Butt Lane venue is £3. The next Groovy Happening is at the Exchange Arts Centre on October 19.
