From the USA to Keighley come rising folk stars The Dunwells.

They are performing at the Octagon club in Sandbeds following a 50-date tour of the States.

The Dunwells – brothers Joe and David and their band – don’t actually have to travel far to the concert.

For they hail from Guiseley, their base over the past two years as they built a reputation across the UK.

They have been compared to leading British folk band Mumford and Sons.

The Dunwells are produced by multi-Grammy award winner John Potter, from Leeds, who played bass with Roxy Music.

They toured the USA to promote their first album Blind Sighted Faith.

The band appeared on America’s Tonight Show with Jay Leno and have performed on the same bill as Bob Dylan and Van Morrison.

A spokesman for the Octagon said Joe and David Dunwell had seen a magical rise since playing in their local pub two years ago.

He said: “They are paralleled to Crosby, Stills & Nash with an organic blend of acoustic and electric.

“They are tipped as the next big British musical export, the most exciting since the Beatles.

“Their luscious lyrics make each song sound like a long-time friend.

“They just love making music. They appeared alongside Bob Dylan and Van Morrison yet they still carry their own musical equipment in and out of venues.”

The performance at the Octagon, in Bradford Road, Sandbeds, will raise money for Manorlands in memory of the Dunwells’ former teacher, Mo Hooley, who died recently.

Support at the gig will come from younger brother Matt Dunwell and his band City of Lights.

Tickets cost £7.50 and are available by calling (01274) 562252.
