Steeton Male Voice Choir are heading off to the east coast during the May Day weekend.

The singers will perform on May 3 at St Hilda’s Church, Whitby, with the Dalesmen Singers in aid of the RNLI Whitby Lifeboats.

The next day sees them at Westborough Methodist Church in Scarborough, performing in aid of St Catherine’s Hospice.

The choir will this Saturday perform at St Michael and All Angels Church in Shelf. Tickets cost £8, by e-mailing tickets@steetonmvc.co.uk or calling (01274) 598221.

The choir, below, performed to capacity audiences recently in Shipley – with the Penzance Orpheus Ladies Choir – and at Leeds Civic Hall.

Choir spokesman, Eric Parker, said: “The sound of 60 or so men never fails to stir up emotions. The medley of First World War songs was well-received especially when followed by Peace on Earth.”

The Leeds concert season was organised by the Lord Mayor of Leeds, Councillor Thomas Murray, and his wife, in aid of the charity appeal Loffty.
