A Keighley teenager has rubbed shoulders with other internet film directors in the USA.

Lewis Parker flew across the Atlantic to meet fans and fellow filmmakers at the Playlist Live convention.

He chatted with many of the Americans who regularly watch his short movies on YouTube.

Lewis, 18, made his first foray into the media at the age of 13 when he ran a Keighley history website.

About two years ago he began making videos on YouTube, and now has 10,000 subscribers and his videos have been seen 170,000 times.

He said: “I make videos documenting all aspects of my life – from the many failures and situations which I get myself in, such as being stranded in London on New Year’s Eve – to topics like bullying and being happy.

“My two biggest audiences are the UK and the US, but a lot of people in Australia and Germany also watch my videos.”

Lewis video-chats to other filmmakers via computer every night, and he was able to meet some of these at Playlist Live in Atlanta.

In August Lewis will take part in a similar event in London, entitled Summer in the City.

He added: “It’s nice to go to these events, because I always feel refreshed and inspired to make different and better content.

“YouTube can turn into a career for some people. It would be nice should that happen for me.”

Lewis filmed a ‘vlog’ of his trip to America, and clips can be viewed on his youtube.com/ilewis95 YouTube channel.
