Dewsbury-born singer Paul Stone, 30, likes to joke that he’ll never be an overnight sensation because he's been performing since he was 18.

He still looks 18 and has a fresh and buoyant way with a song that recalls Jamie Cullum at his best.

His latest album, Reprise Of Swing, came out in a limited edition two years ago and goes online in the summer. The album, recorded over two days at London’s Real Word Studios, contains arrangements for his 11-piece swing orchestra of numbers such as Don’t You Forget About Me, Lovely Day, Wicked Game, Sex On Fire, Englishman In New York and I Need Your Love.

He said: “I am a big believer that you cannot improve the original song.

“There’s fine line between being cheesy and being an entertainer. On stage with a big band, in front of an audience, you’ve got to entertain.”

Paul will be performing with Merrill Osmond in August at Leeds City Varieties.

Before then, on July 5, he and his band are scheduled to do a show at Skipton on the big stage at 10.20am before the Tour de France passes through.
