A building erected to commemorate the First World War will this month host a play about the conflict.

The drama Not About Heroes will be performed at Riddlesden Memorial Institute on May 9.

The play, above, which portrays the wartime meeting between poets Siegfried Sassoon and Wilfred Owen, comes from theatre company Jay Walkers.

The company is touring the play around several York-shire buildings that commemorate the First World War.

The poets are played by Keighley man Matthew Gardner, who played a leading role in The Portrait of Dorian Gray last year at Keighley Playhouse, and Skipton actor David Nicholson.

The play is directed by Jamesine Cundell-Walker, who has directed Keighley Amateurs musicals including Whistle down the Wind and Footloose.

Not About Heroes will be performed at 7.30pm at Riddlesden Memorial Institute (May 9) and Cononley Village Institute (May 10). Half the door takings will go to the upkeep of the halls, and a raffle will raise funds for the British Legion and Help for Heroes.

Tickets cost £7. Visit thejaywalkers.co.uk or call 01756 760302.
