Musical influences of all kinds can be heard in the songs of Polly & The Billets Doux.

Keighley music fans can play ‘spot the genre’ when Polly Perry and her band visit the town on Saturday.

There’ll be folk, rock ‘n’ roll, soul, blues and gospel as they play the Exchange Arts Centre in Russell Street.

Polly and her pals are embarking on a 25-date tour of the UK to promote their upcoming record Money Tree.

The album, released on May 19, is said to showcase Polly’s beautiful gospel-inspired voice and the band’s truly original sound.

The Sunday Times newspaper described Billets Doux’s music as a harmonious blend of folk, rock, blues, soul and gospel.

The Guardian raved about the band’s “eclectic and inspired musical blend”, while Q magazine said Polly was better than Duffy.

A Billets Doux spokesman said: “This impressive independent band have gone from strength to strength since the release of their debut album in 2010, which had them topping many ‘ones to watch’ lists.

“That same year, they reached number 21 on the BBC Radio 1 Indie Charts, and were invited to do live sessions with BBC 6 Music’s Cerys Matthews and BBC Radio 4’s Loose Ends. The buzz hasn’t stopped since.

“Support slots with Stornoway, Fun Lovin’ Criminals and Van Morrison have seen the band bring their music to increasingly diverse audiences across the country, and establish themselves as UK festival favourites.”
