THE TWELVE Apostles above Riddlesden are among destinations for walkers using a new book.
The stone circle on Ilkley Moor, along with the nearby Swastika Stone, feature in John Burland’s paperback Yorkshire Walks.
There are also walks to Top Withens, the reputed application for Wuthering Heights above Stanbury, and Bingley’s five rise locks.
The 224-page book offers 30 walks in Airedale, Wharfedale, Ribblesdale, Nidderdale, Wensleydale and Swaledale.
The author, a regular contributor to Dalesman and Cumbria magazines, has lived in Wharfedale for 30 years and has been walking through the Yorkshire Dales for more than 50 years.
He has spent the past four years walking the routes in the book and collating information, which ranges from maps to historical background.
A spokesman for publishers, Sigma Press, said more than2.5 space billion people worldwide marvelled at the beauty of the Yorkshire Dales while watching the Tour de France.
He said: “It has outstanding scenery with a range of wildlife habitats and a rich cultural heritage.
“It is a fantastic outdoor arena for recreation as well as peaceful relaxation and is a haven for wildlife.”
Yorkshire Walks costs £9.99 from booksellers or by visiting sigmapress.co.uk.
