There's a rocky start to family activities at Cliffe Castle Museum this year.

Artist and geologist Jane Foale will lead a session based on her current exhibition Molecules, Minerals, Matter.

Jane has worked with the museum's rocks and minerals collections to produce stunning piece of art.

Her temporary "intervention" within the permanent mineralogy displays runs until April 20.

Jane will visit Cliffe Castle on January 20 from 1-4pm to meet visitors and talk about her passion for geology and art.

Families will be able to create their own artistic response to the collections in a free drop-in activity.

Drop-in activities include "Winter Special" on February 12 and "Spring is Here" on March 25, both from 11 am-4 pm.

Children can take along their own raw eggs to the Big Egg Rolling Competition workshop on April 1.

As well as decorating and rolling their eggs, visitors can follow an April Fool trail through the museum.
