Get Happy is the perfect title for jazz queen Clare Teal's latest album.

The former Kildwick woman said that recording the disc was was terrific fun and a fabulous experience.

Clare returns to her first love, jazz, for her first album with Universal imprint W14 Music, out on February 25.

The CD features Cheek to Cheek, Begin the Beguine, Love for Sale, Time after Time and The Very Thought of You.

Also promised are innovative interpretations of modern standards Love Hurts and Breaking up Is Hard to Do.

As usual with her albums, Clare includes three of her own compositions.

John Williams, boss of W14 Music, said Clare was with the UK's greatest singers.

He said: "The album is a masterclass of her song interpretation and vocal prowess."

Get Happy was recorded over just a few days with Clare's five-piece band.

A spokesman said: "On the familiar songs Clare has that rare ability of making you feel that you suddenly hear the lyric as if for the very first time.

"On the original songs Clare demonstrates her passion for classic songwriting as she draws from the likes of Esquivel, Bacharach and the sounds of yesteryear and marries them with lyrics inspired by her own life experiences."

Winner of numerous awards including British Jazz Vocalist of the Year 2005 and 2007 and BBC Jazz Vocalist of the Year 2006, Clare is also a seasoned Radio 2 broadcaster.
