An all-female band with a member from Keighley has won a prestigious music prize for the second year running.

Waking the Witch won the Folk/Roots Performer of the Year category in the Classic Rock Society UK awards.

The quartet's most recent album Boys from the Abattoir was voted runner-up for the best album of 2007.

One of the witches, Becky Mills, was voted runner-up in the performer of the year category.

Betty shares the stage with members including Keighley singer-musician Jools Parker.

The Classic Rock success comes as the Witches prepare for their farewell tour before disbanding.

The members will be concentrating on other commitments with Becky preparing to give birth.

The women say: "We've had such a fab time on the UK acoustic circuit and we're so very proud of what we've achieved.

We've played some great gigs to really excellent audiences and we've worked so hard to produce a fab live show.

"Those who caught us on our mammoth 2007 "Boys from the Abattoir" Tour will know it's really worth seeing us on our very last tour ever!"

The farewell tour, running until April, will take in the Frazer Theatre, Knaresborough, on February 23 and Square Chapel, Halifax, on March 29.

A DVD from the Boys from the Abattoir tour, filmed at the City Varieties in Leeds, has been released, and includes an interview with the band.
