Leading lights of Haworth Arts Festival are among performers at the event's launch party this Saturday.

And the musical evening at the village's Parkside Social Club will have a strong Irish theme.

The actual festival, which is expected to last the weekend, will not be held until the late summer.

The organisers, Haworth Arts Group, wanted to show that preparations begin many months before.

As well as planning meetings they will involve the community in workshops over the next few months.

Saturday's line-up includes Haworth resident, festival stalwart and singer-musician Paul Jermyn.

Paul brought musicians from his native Cavan, in Ireland, to play several times at last year's festival.

Also providing Irish flavour will be nationally-known folk singer Maggie Boyle, who lives in the Worth Valley.

Haworth singer-musician Tim Moon will perform his own songs on a range of acoustic instruments.

In last year's festival he played solo and with band The Sex Patels, and wrote songs with local schools.

The anarchic Lynch Mob will provide a good-time stomp, and also performing is local band Fairy Dogmother.

The Butt Lane venue opens at 7.30pm. Admission £4.
