A Keighley woman is seeking help from fellow performers for her research into English folk singing.

Fay Hield, who sang with local group Witches of Elswick, is preparing a PhD at Sheffield University.

She is looking at folk singing and the part it plays in people's lives both in Sheffield and across the country.

advertisement She wants to hear from anyone involved in folk music, whether singing, organising or listening.

Fay, an accomplished fiddle player, has been a regular at Keighley's Baccapipes Folk Club since she was a child.

She ran local folk artist booking agency 3's Company with singers Maggie Boyle and Damien Barber.

Fay organised concerts as part of her three-year degree studying folk arts in Newcastle, completed in 2005.

Fay can be contacted at f.hield@sheffield.ac.uk, and details of the research is on her website at www.fayhield.com.
