Our South African visitors came, saw and conquered Bradford with a glittering display of song, dance and colour.
Formed in 2002, the choir has been acclaimed in Australia, South Africa and on both sides of the Atlantic and their CD recordings Voices of Heaven', Blessed' and African Spirit' have broken many records.
For two hours we were treated to African Spirit, a remarkable programme of Call and Response which exhibited voices of huge range and power.
These were accompanied by three guitarists and drums, giving the beat to superbly co-ordinated dancing of breath-taking accuracy and skill in a blaze of traditional multicoloured costumes.
More than 10 traditional songs, including Amazing Grace, were led by several individual members of the choir, in addition to well known numbers by Bob Marley, Bob Dylan, all brought to a close by Gustav Holst's I vow to thee my country' to demonstrate a world in union.
