Former Oakworth woman Karen Blick is setting up the local branch of a national performing arts school.

Karen, who performed several times with Keighley Amateurs, will run Theatretrain at Beckfoot School.

Children will train for three hours each Saturday afternoon and perform both locally and in the West End.

Karen performed in shows like Brigadoon, Aladdin and Anything Goes before going to drama school.

She has since performed in TV series Emmerdale and No Angels and is also a qualified teacher.

Karen said the Theatretrain classes would cover an hour each of dancing, drama and singing each week.

Experienced industry professionals teach classes at the 80 schools across the UK and Ireland.

She said: "It is a real pleasure to be able to come home and offer this level of professional training to local kids.

Part of Theatretrain's ethos is about working together which is highlighted by International exchanges and large-scale productions."
