HOT on the heels of our autumn concert comes the KVU Singers’ annual young musicians concert, in which our musical director Frank Smith and the singers take a back seat in order to promote young talent from around our area – and sometimes a little further afield.

This year we are delighted to welcome four very varied contributions.

Bassoonist Harris Birch, now 16 years old, has been playing the bassoon since the age of nine and is presently taught by Jonathan Shardlow.

Esme Davies, soprano, is studying at Chetham School of Music, where she is taught by Kate Huddle.

Oliver Crick, who has been playing the viola from the age of three, is a pupil at Ermysted’s Grammar School. He is currently section leader of the Bradford Youth Orchestra, conducts the Ermysted's Swing Band and is part of our final contribution, the Ermysted’s String Quartet.

The quartet is made up of Harris Birch, Benjamin Rawlings, Oliver Crick and – making a welcome reappearance – Tommy Consterdine, whom many will remember from last year’s young musicians’ concert.

Neither Frank nor the KVU Singers will be 'missing in action' – we will be making a small and mainly light-hearted contribution – but the spotlight belongs to our young musicians.

The concert is at Christ Church, Skipton, on November 9, at 2.30pm.

Tickets are £12.50 (£5 for first child, additional free).
